Restyled for 2008, the Ford Escape Hybrid is a four-door, five-passenger sport-utility available in Front Wheel Drive (FWD) and intelligent full-time four wheel drive (4WD). The FWD comes with a standard 2.3-liter, I4, 133-horsepower, hybrid engine that reaches 34-mpg in the city and 30-mpg on the highway. The 4WD also comes with a standard 2.3-liter, I4, 133-horsepower, hybrid engine that gets up to 29-mpg in the city and 27-mpg on the highway. Standard for both models is a variable speed automatic transmission with overdrive.
