Many of the company's outdoor hiking books (though not all) use PET for the lining and laces and Vibram® EcoStep® recycled rubber outsoles. Many are also stitched with hand-sewn side-stitch construction to avoid the use of adhesives. Check before buying to be sure that shoes contain these recycled materials.
